Programme Overview

The Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme aims to encourage utilization of private primary healthcare services, including dental service, by the elderly. Since its pilot implementation in 2009, the voucher amount has been increased several times and its scope has been continuously expanded. Currently, eligible elderly persons can receive an annual voucher amount of HK$2,000, and the unspent voucher has no expiration date and can be accumulated up to a ceiling of HK$8,000.

Eligibility

  • Hong Kong residents aged 65 or above with a valid Hong Kong identity card

Application Procedure

  • No pre-registration is required; elderly persons only need to visit private or NGO dental clinics that participate in the scheme
  • After receiving dental treatments, the elderly patient only needs to show his/her identity card, sign a consent form for the dentist to use his/her personal data for administration purposes, and sign on a form indicating the voucher amount to be deducted
  • Elderly persons have a free choice of private healthcare services and providers, and there are no limits on expenditures in each healthcare visit
